TUSCALOOSA, ALA. – Ball State men’s ultimate frisbee team went 1-2 in bracket play on Sunday. They placed 12th out of 16 teams in the Alabama tournament.
In the first game, the Wizardz faced off against Louisiana State University (B-team), Ball State won 15-10. The lead scorer on offense was a tie with two goals between freshmen Jaden Jarrett, Justin Hess, Joe Overton, and junior Nathan Hershberger. On the defensive side, sophomore Nik Risser had three D’s. The play of the tournament happened when Fuelling threw a flick huck to Jarrett. Jarrett caught the disc and ran into two LSU players.
In the semis of the ninth-place bracket, the Wizardz lost to the Gnomes of Illinois State. The final score was 15-7. On offense, junior Garrett Fuelling led the team with four assists and nine throwaways. Fuelling also lead the team with three D’s on defense.
The final game was for 11th place game, the Wizardz were blown out by Kennesaw State. Final score 15-2. The only scores in this game were Overton and freshman Noah Pumphrey. On the defensive end, freshman Thomas Smith had three D’s, all of them coming within one point on defense.
The next tournament that the Wizardz will be a part of is the MidWest Throwdown.
